Build beautiful, groundbreaking sites and apps that help people conquer climate change. And eat more cookies than you ever thought possible.

Hours Full time   Duration 1 year contract   Money £30K   Location Camden Town

Hi, we’re 10:10.

We bring people together to do positive, practical stuff that helps solve climate change.

You’re a brilliant web developer who wants to use your powers to make the world a better place.

We should talk!

About the role

Lots of our public-facing work happens online. 10:10ers use our sites and web apps to keep them equipped, connected and inspired, and as our in-house developer, you’ll be the one that makes it all possible.

You’ll be a key member of our small, friendly team, looking after our existing tech assets, and working with freelancers and agencies to bring new campaign ideas to life online.

We’re looking for a strong all-rounder, comfortable with a range of languages and technologies. You’ll have the confidence to think big and take important technical decisions, but you won’t mind getting your hands dirty with day-to-day bug fixes and maintenance of legacy code.

• Solid front-end skills (HTML/CSS/Javascript), including responsive design.

• Confidence working in Python and PHP.

• Management and maintenance experience in Google App Engine.

• Comfortable managing databases (including security) and doing a bit of linux sysadmin.

• Experience of managing AWS hosting.

• Version control (Git, SVN)

• Experience of working with agencies and freelance developers.

• Great people skills, and a knack for translating tech jargon into everyday language.

• A personal interest in climate change. You don’t need to be an expert or an activist, as long as you care about what 10:10 does.

Definitely won’t hurt

• A burning passion for testing and documentation – other developers love working with your code.

• Understanding of common web application and content management frameworks eg Drupal

• Experience with third party API integration: Facebook, Twitter, Google maps, email service providers.

• Good design instincts.

• Experience of digital campaigning and/or online fundraising.

• A healthy appreciation of chocolate chip cookies.

How to apply

Send your CV, a covering letter explaining why you’re interested in this role, and links to some of your code to [email protected]. For bonus points, make sure you include ‘web developer’ in the email subject line and tell us where you heard about the vacancy.

We welcome applications from people who've previously applied for other roles at 10:10.

Agencies, please don't call – we'll be in touch if we need you!
